It seems the enemy submarines smell if you have depth charges or not. I have tested several escort strategies ranging from empty ship hulls to full fletched fleets with all anti sub modules. But I agree that the effect should be stronger given the investment it takes If just one sub gets revealed, all ASW ships will be able to shoot at it effectively, so it is not necessary to reveal a huge number of them at the same time.
The formulas are right there in the wiki.Ģ4:30 that's exactly what's described here: Ģ8:00 the sub detection can get close to decent within battles if the enemy subs are not up to date or their positioning is weak. It's pretty neat but ultimately spotting speed mostly determines whether a spotting can start and progress.
But that's mostly a concern when spotting surface vesselsġ7:30 base detection mainly gives a head-start in spotting, as described in the wiki. 14:55 the wiki does not say the number of ships in the patrol was importantġ5:21 bug report here: (it is not always exactly 10% but close enough)ġ5:45 the number of TFs matters when the goal is to spot multiple target TFs at the same time, as described in the wiki.
